The view from Dorset.

Created by John 5 years ago

Rather than write a specific tribute to Richard and Posy I have decided to produce a more generic accolade to the Stockmans as a whole.
To set the scene for the reader who may not know us. I and my brother Ben are cousins to Richard, Caroline and Anthony and we live in the abbey town of Sherborne in North Dorset.
My first patchy memories are from 1968 when we were despatched to No 6 Archibald Road for a short period while our father sorted out affairs in Dorset following the untimely death of our mother (Margaret’s sister). We were cared for wonderfully at a difficult time.
Over the following years we would have enjoyable visits to catch up with the other side of our family, firstly in Exeter, then at Shute, West Dunster and latterly at the Bothy for the Easter Sunday lunchtime gathering. We were always made very welcome with everyone interested in our news and what we were up to. We have also availed ourselves from time to time of the skills of the Stockman’s, be it the purchase of a vehicle or legal expertise. At all times they were professional and acted with complete integrity.
The Stockmans have a trait, talent, skill or ability to make everyone feel included, valued and interesting. Nothing is too much trouble for them and they have been a great support to us.
We will miss Richard and Posy greatly but as one epoch closes a new vista opens and I look forward to many more visits to Devon to enjoy the special company of the Stockmans.
